Possible Causes

Failed oven safety thermostat (thermal cut-out), stuck-closed oven temperature sensor, shorted sensor wiring, main control PCB relay stuck on

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the cooker from the mains supply. Allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.

Check the cooling and safety devices:

  • Remove the rear panel of the cooker to access the main oven safety thermostat (thermal cut-out), usually a small round or rectangular device with two terminals mounted on the rear of the oven cavity.
  • Some Leisure models use a manual reset thermostat with a small red button. Press the button firmly to reset. If it clicks and the oven then works normally, monitor for recurrence (overheating cause may still exist).
  • Test the thermostat with a multimeter for continuity. If it is open and will not reset, replace it.
  • Inspect the cooling fan (if fitted) for free rotation and check that it runs when the oven is on. A failed cooling fan can cause overheating and E02.
  • Check the oven temperature sensor for correct resistance at room temperature. A shorted sensor can cause the control to overheat the oven.
  • If the thermostat and sensor are good, the main control PCB may be driving the heating elements continuously due to a stuck relay and will need replacement.

Note: Persistent overtemperature faults should be investigated by a professional, as they can be a fire risk.
