Possible Causes

Failed top oven base or roof element, faulty selector switch contacts for top oven, broken wiring between element and selector, failed oven thermostat for top oven

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the appliance from mains power before removing any panels.

Check the top oven heating circuit:

  • Identify whether your Leisure model uses a roof element, base element, or both in the top oven. Remove the inner panels to access the elements.
  • Visually inspect the elements for splits, burn marks, or deformation.
  • Access the rear of the cooker and locate the corresponding element terminals. Check for loose or overheated connectors.
  • Test each element with a multimeter for continuity (typically 20–60 Ω). Replace any open-circuit element with the correct Leisure top oven element.
  • If elements are good, remove the control panel and inspect the top oven selector switch and top oven thermostat. Look for burnt contacts or melted plastic.
  • Test continuity through the selector switch in the top oven positions. If contacts are not closing, replace the selector switch.

Warning: The control panel area contains live mains connections when powered. Do not work in this area unless power is fully isolated.
