Possible Causes

Failed capillary thermostat, broken thermostat shaft, sensor bulb dislodged from mounting clip, wiring fault to thermostat contacts

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the cooker from mains power. Ensure the oven is cool before working inside the cavity.

Check the thermostat and sensor bulb:

  • Remove the oven back panel (inside the cavity) to locate the thermostat sensor bulb. Ensure it is securely clipped in place and not touching elements directly.
  • From the front, remove the control knob and panel to access the oven thermostat body.
  • Inspect the thermostat shaft for damage and check that it rotates smoothly.
  • Test continuity across the thermostat contacts while turning the knob from off to on; the contacts should open and close as temperature is adjusted.
  • If the thermostat does not switch correctly or the capillary tube is kinked or broken, replace the oven thermostat as a complete unit.

Note: Do not sharply bend or cut the capillary tube; it is gas-filled and integral to the thermostat operation.
