Possible Causes
Blown main oven element, failed oven thermostat, loose wiring at element terminals, tripped thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and confirm power is off.
Diagnostic steps:
- Check whether the oven indicator light comes on when you turn the temperature knob. If not, suspect the thermostat or power supply to the oven.
- Access the rear of the cooker and remove the back panel to inspect the main oven element terminals and wiring.
- Test the element for continuity with a multimeter; replace if open circuit.
- Locate the thermal cut-out / safety thermostat on the rear of the oven cavity. If it has a reset button, press to reset. Test for continuity; replace if permanently open.
- If the element and cut-out are good, test the oven thermostat for continuity when turned on. Replace if faulty.
Tip: Many Leisure ranges have separate elements for fan and conventional modes; test each if multiple functions are dead.
