Possible Causes
Weak or failed thermocouple, thermocouple tip not properly in flame, loose thermocouple connection at gas valve, faulty gas valve magnet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the gas supply if you suspect a leak. Gas work should be carried out by a qualified engineer.
User-level checks:
- Clean the burner cap and base to ensure a stable flame that fully envelops the thermocouple tip.
- Ensure the burner cap is correctly seated and not blocking flame ports.
Technical checks (engineer):
- Inspect the thermocouple tip position relative to the flame; adjust if necessary.
- Check the thermocouple connection at the gas tap / valve for tightness.
- Test thermocouple output and replace the thermocouple if it does not generate sufficient voltage.
- If a new thermocouple does not resolve the issue, the gas valve magnet unit may be faulty and require replacement.
