Possible Causes
Main control board logic failure, Shorted keypad input line, Power surge damage to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing any panels. High voltage is present even when the oven is off.
- Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 5–10 minutes, then back ON. If F1 returns immediately without pressing any keys, the control board is likely defective.
- Check keypad connection: Remove the rear cover behind the control panel. Verify the keypad ribbon cable is fully seated and not pinched or damaged. Reseat the connector.
- Inspect for board damage: Look for burnt components, darkened areas, or bulging capacitors on the main control board. Any visible damage indicates replacement is required.
- Test with keypad disconnected: If possible, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control and restore power. If F1 still appears, the control board is bad. If it disappears, the keypad is suspect.
- Replace control: Order the correct LG main oven control board by model number. Transfer each wire/connector from the old board to the new one, matching positions exactly.
