Possible Causes

Internal main control board fault, Power surge or brownout damage, Corrupted control firmware

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing any panels.

  • Power reset: Turn the breaker OFF for 10 minutes to fully discharge the control. Turn it back ON and test the oven. If F5 returns immediately, the control is likely defective.
  • Check supply voltage: Verify the range is receiving correct voltage (typically 240 VAC across L1–L2 and 120 VAC from each leg to neutral). Incorrect voltage can cause control errors; have a qualified electrician correct supply issues.
  • Inspect control board: Remove the back cover and inspect the main control for burnt components or damaged traces. Any visible damage requires board replacement.
  • Replace control: If F5 persists and power supply is correct, replace the main control board with the correct LG part number for your model.
