Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor assembly, Broken or jammed door lock latch, Door lock switch not changing state, Wiring issue between lock and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Do not force the door open with tools; you can damage the glass.

  • Allow cooling: If the error occurred after self-clean, allow the oven to cool completely (several hours). Sometimes the lock will release once temperature drops.
  • Manual release: On many LG ranges, you can access the lock mechanism by removing the top rear panel. With power OFF, locate the door lock motor and gently move the latch arm to unlock the door.
  • Check lock operation: With the rear panel removed, inspect the lock motor, linkage, and switches. Look for broken plastic parts or disconnected rods.
  • Test lock motor: With power restored and extreme caution, start a self-clean or lock cycle and observe if the lock motor attempts to move. If it does not move or hum, the motor or its wiring may be faulty.
  • Replace lock assembly: If the lock is physically broken or the motor is open-circuit, replace the complete door lock motor assembly with an LG-compatible part.
