Possible Causes
Failed oven igniter (glow bar), Open gas safety valve coil, Faulty oven thermostat/control relay, Broken igniter wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas supply before servicing. Gas leaks and ignition components can be hazardous.
- Observe igniter: Restore power and gas. Set the oven to bake and look through the bottom panel or broiler drawer. The igniter should glow bright orange within 30–60 seconds.
- No glow: If the igniter does not glow, test it for continuity with a multimeter. Replace if open.
- Weak glow: If the igniter glows but the burner does not light, the igniter may not be drawing enough current to open the gas valve. Replace the igniter.
- Check gas valve coils: With power off, measure resistance of the gas valve coils. Replace the gas valve assembly if coils are open.
- Control issues: If igniter and valve are good but no power is sent to the igniter, the main control board or thermostat relay may be faulty and require replacement.
