Possible Causes
Overheated glass surface, Blocked ventilation under cooktop, Failed temperature sensor reading high, Cooling fan not operating (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the cooktop and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
Steps:
- Ventilation check: Ensure there is adequate clearance under the cooktop per Magic Chef installation instructions. Remove items stored directly under the cooktop that may block airflow.
- Usage check: Avoid running multiple burners on maximum for long periods, especially under large pots that trap heat.
- Fan operation: On models with internal cooling fans, listen for fan operation when burners are on high. If the fan does not run, access and test the fan motor and replace if failed.
- Sensor test: If E2 occurs quickly at normal use, test the surface temperature sensor/thermistor as described for E1 and replace if out of spec.
Warning: Do not bypass over-temperature sensors; they are critical safety devices.
