Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck bake or broil relay on EOC, Shorted wiring causing constant element power, Miswired replacement control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately turn off the oven and switch off the breaker. Do not continue using the oven until the fault is corrected.
Steps:
- Sensor test: With power OFF, test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature (~1050–1100 Ω). Replace if shorted or out of range.
- Relay check: With power OFF, inspect the EOC for signs of overheating or welded relays. If the oven elements heat even when the control is off, the relay is likely stuck closed. Replace the EOC.
- Wiring inspection: Check element wiring for shorts to line voltage or to chassis. Repair any damaged insulation.
Warning: A runaway temperature condition is a fire hazard. Do not bypass safety components.
