Oven shuts off and displays F2 during or shortly after a bake or broil cycle, often when very hot.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working inside.

Steps:

• Visual check: Inspect the oven cavity for foil covering the bottom or blocking vents. Remove any foil or oversized pans that restrict airflow.
• Check door gasket: Inspect the Magic Chef oven door gasket for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. A bad seal can cause localized overheating. Replace if damaged.
• Test oven sensor: With power OFF, remove the rear panel or access from inside the oven (two screws holding the sensor). Disconnect the sensor harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F / 21°C), it should read about 1050–1100 Ω. If far outside this range, replace the sensor.
• Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness from the sensor to the EOC for burns, pinched spots, or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
• Control board: If the sensor and wiring test good but F2 persists, the EOC relay may be stuck closed or misreading temperature. Replace the EOC with the correct Magic Chef part number.

Note: Do not operate the oven if it overheats or cycles erratically; this can be a fire hazard.
