Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing the rear or interior panels.
Steps:
- Locate sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the thin metal probe (oven sensor) usually on the upper back wall. Remove the two mounting screws.
- Access connector: Gently pull the sensor into the cavity until the wire connector appears. Disconnect it.
- Test resistance: Using a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor terminals. At room temperature, it should be ~1050–1100 Ω. If it reads OL (open) or very high resistance, replace the sensor with a Magic Chef-compatible RTD.
- Check harness: If the sensor tests good, remove the rear panel and inspect the harness from the sensor connector to the EOC. Look for broken wires, loose plugs, or burned spots. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board: If sensor and wiring are good but F3 remains, the EOC sensor circuit is likely defective and the board must be replaced.
Tip: When installing the new sensor, avoid sharply bending the capillary tube and ensure the connector is fully seated and secured away from hot surfaces.
