Possible Causes

Shorted touchpad membrane, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Failed EOC keypad interface

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.

Steps:

  • Dry and reset: If the panel was recently cleaned or exposed to steam, leave power off for 30–60 minutes to allow moisture to evaporate. Then restore power and test.
  • Inspect keypad: Remove the backguard cover. Inspect the keypad ribbon cable for kinks, corrosion, or burns. Reseat the connector at the EOC.
  • Isolate keypad: With power OFF, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC. Restore power. If F7 disappears, the keypad is defective. If F7 remains, the EOC is likely faulty.
  • Replace faulty part: Replace the touchpad/control panel assembly or EOC as indicated. Use the full Magic Chef model number to order the correct part.

Tip: Avoid spraying cleaner directly on the control panel; spray a cloth instead to prevent moisture intrusion.
