Possible Causes

Defective door lock motor, Bent door latch, Failed lock position switch, Loose or broken lock wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Surfaces may be hot if the error occurred during or after self-clean.

Steps:

  • Door inspection: Check that the door closes fully and the latch engages the frame receiver. Adjust hinges or replace a bent latch if needed.
  • Access lock assembly: Remove the top or rear panel to reach the lock motor assembly. Inspect for broken plastic gears, loose linkage, or signs of overheating.
  • Electrical test: With power OFF, disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace the lock assembly.
  • Switch and wiring: Test lock switches for continuity and inspect wiring to the EOC. Repair or replace as necessary.
  • Control board: If the lock assembly and wiring are good, the EOC may not be driving the lock motor correctly and should be replaced.

Note: If the door is stuck locked, manually release the lock from the top or rear with power off, following the service manual for your Magic Chef model.
