Possible Causes
Bent or worn door hinges, Broken hinge springs, Damaged or compressed door gasket, Misaligned door due to impact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool before working on the door.
Steps:
- Inspect gasket: Check the door gasket around the frame for tears, gaps, or hardened sections. Replace if damaged.
- Check hinges: Open the door and inspect hinges for bending or broken springs. On many Magic Chef models, the door can be removed by opening to the broil stop position and lifting off the hinges.
- Replace hinges: Remove the oven door, then remove the side panels or access screws to replace the hinge assemblies. Install new OEM hinges in pairs for even closure.
- Re-seat door: Reinstall the door fully onto the hinge arms and test closure.
Note: A poor door seal can cause temperature issues and overheat the control panel.
