Oven Cavity Light Circuit Failure
Oven light will not turn on
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Burned-out oven light bulb, Failed light switch or door switch, Faulty light relay on EOC, Broken light socket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before replacing bulbs or sockets.
- Replace bulb: Remove the light cover (often a glass dome with a metal clip) and replace the bulb with the correct high-temperature appliance bulb.
- Check door switch: Press the door switch plunger and listen for a click. If it feels loose or does not click, test with a multimeter and replace if faulty.
- Inspect socket: Look for burned contacts or loose wiring at the light socket. Replace the socket if damaged.
- Control issue: If the bulb, switch, and socket are good but the light still does not work, the EOC light relay may have failed and the control board may need replacement.
