Possible Causes

Cooling fan failure, Blocked ventilation openings, Dust buildup on heat sink, Prolonged high-power operation without adequate airflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the cooktop to cool completely before removing any panels.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure cabinet vents and the area under the cooktop are not blocked by cookware, liners, or stored items.
  • Inspect cooling fan:
    • With power restored, turn on a zone and listen for the fan. If it does not run, or makes grinding noises, it may be failing.
    • With power OFF again, remove the bottom cover and check for obstructions or heavy dust on the fan blades and heat sink. Clean carefully with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • Reduce load: Avoid running multiple zones at maximum power for extended periods if ventilation is marginal.

If E5 continues after cleaning and confirming airflow, the power module or fan assembly likely needs replacement by a qualified technician.
