Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Weak or cracked spark electrode, No gas supply or closed gas shutoff valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner knobs to OFF. If you smell gas, do not ignite any flames or operate electrical switches; ventilate the area and contact your gas supplier.
- Check gas supply: Ensure the main gas shutoff valve to the range is fully open.
- Inspect burner assembly:
- Remove the burner grate and cap.
- Clean burner ports with a soft brush or a wooden toothpick (do not enlarge holes).
- Reinstall the cap, making sure it is centered and seated flat.
- Check spark: Turn the knob to ignite and look for a strong blue spark at the electrode. If no spark, the electrode or ignition module may be faulty.
If the burner still will not light but others work, the individual burner head or electrode may need replacement. If none light, the spark module or gas regulator should be checked by a technician.
