Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD), Shorted oven sensor harness, Stuck bake or broil relay on control board, Poor airflow around oven cavity causing overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Surfaces and internal components may be extremely hot.

  • Allow to cool: Let the oven cool completely. Once cool, restore power and see if F2 reappears when starting a bake cycle.
  • Check oven sensor resistance: Remove the rear panel or access from inside the oven (sensor is a thin metal probe on the rear wall). Disconnect the sensor harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~77°F/25°C), it should read about 1080 Ω. Replace if reading is far off spec or open/shorted.
  • Inspect harness: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Look for pinched, burned, or broken insulation. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Control board relay check: If the oven continues heating with the control off, the bake or broil relay on the EOC may be welded closed. In this case, the control board must be replaced.
  • Ventilation: Ensure cabinet cutout and ventilation clearances match Monogram installation specs. Poor airflow can cause overheating and F2 codes.
