Possible Causes
Open oven temperature sensor (RTD), Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose sensor connector at control board, Corroded sensor terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the rear or internal wiring.
- Locate the sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the thin metal probe on the rear wall. Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector.
- Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, expect ~1080 Ω. If the reading is infinite (open) or far from spec, replace the sensor.
- Check wiring: If the sensor tests good, trace the harness from the sensor to the control board. Look for breaks, burns, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector at the control board.
- Replace parts as needed: Replace the oven temperature sensor if open or out of range. If wiring and sensor are good but F3 persists, the electronic oven control board may have a faulty input circuit and should be replaced.
