Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wires shorted to chassis, Melted or pinched sensor harness, Failed sensor input on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing panels or touching wiring.

  • Inspect sensor and harness: Access the oven sensor from inside the cavity or rear panel. Check for melted insulation, pinched wires, or contact with metal surfaces.
  • Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor if shorted.
  • Check for shorts to ground: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance from each sensor lead to the oven chassis. Any low resistance indicates a shorted harness; repair or replace the harness.
  • Control board diagnosis: If sensor and harness are good but F4 persists, the control board sensor circuit may be shorted internally. Replace the electronic oven control board.
