Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Weak or cracked spark igniter, Failed spark module or ignition harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner knobs to OFF. If you smell gas, ventilate the area immediately and do not use electrical switches or open flames.
- Check burner cap: Remove and reseat the burner cap so it sits flat and centered on the burner base.
- Clean burner ports: Use a soft brush or a wooden toothpick to clear food debris from the burner ports. Do not use metal objects that can enlarge the holes.
- Inspect igniter: Verify the igniter tip is clean and not cracked. Wipe with a dry cloth; avoid harsh cleaners.
- Test spark: Turn the knob to LITE and observe the igniter. If there is no spark on that burner but others spark, the igniter or its wiring may be faulty.
- Replace parts: Replace the surface burner igniter if it does not spark or is cracked. If none of the burners spark, the spark module may need replacement.
