Possible Causes
Burnt out hob element, faulty energy regulator (simmerstat), loose wiring at hob terminal, failed touch control or infinite switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the cooker from mains and allow hob to cool before lifting the top.
- Check other zones: If only one zone fails, the element or its control is suspect. If all fail, check supply and terminal block.
- Access hob: Remove fixing screws and carefully lift the hob top to expose the elements and wiring.
- Test element: Disconnect the suspect zone and measure resistance across the element. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check regulator: For knob‑controlled zones, test the energy regulator for continuity when turned on. Replace if it does not switch power to the element.
- Touch control models: If controlled by an electronic touch panel, a failed power board or relay may be at fault and the board will need replacement.
