Possible Causes
Faulty door switch, misaligned door latch, bent door hinges, broken wiring to door switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before working on door components.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and sits evenly against the front frame. Adjust any items preventing closure (trays, shelves).
- Inspect hinges and latch: Look for sagging hinges or a bent latch hook. If the door drops when opened, hinge runners or hinges may be worn and need replacement.
- Locate door switch: On many New World ovens, a plunger switch is located behind the front frame near the latch area. Press it manually (with power off) to ensure it moves freely.
- Continuity test: Disconnect the switch and test with a multimeter. It should change from open to closed when pressed. Replace if faulty.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for breaks or loose connectors. Repair as needed.
