Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, sensor wiring short to chassis, faulty electronic clock/programmer, incorrectly fitted sensor not fully in cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains before any work. Allow the oven to cool completely.
- Visual inspection: Check the oven temperature sensor probe at the rear of the cavity. Ensure it is not bent so that it touches the oven wall and that the mounting bracket is secure.
- Check resistance cold: With the cooker pulled forward and rear cover removed, unplug the sensor and measure resistance. If the reading is significantly lower than specification (e.g. a few hundred ohms) or fluctuates when you move the cable, the sensor or harness is shorting.
- Inspect harness: Follow the sensor cable to the clock module. Look for pinched or melted insulation where it passes near the grill element or through the rear panel grommet. Repair minor insulation damage with high‑temperature sleeving; replace the harness if copper is exposed or burnt.
- Check connections at the clock: Reseat the sensor connector on the electronic clock/programmer. Corroded or loose pins can cause incorrect readings.
- Replace faulty parts: If the sensor tests out of range, replace it. If the sensor and wiring are good but F2 persists, the electronic clock/programmer is likely defective and should be replaced as a complete unit.
