Possible Causes
Shorted NTC sensor, sensor wires shorted together, sensor harness pinched to chassis, failed electronic clock/programmer input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the cooker switch and breaker. Confirm no live voltage is present.
- Inspect sensor and cable: From inside the oven, locate the sensor probe. Check that the insulation where it passes through the rear wall is intact. From the rear, inspect the cable for crushed or melted sections.
- Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor if shorted.
- Check for cable shorts: With the sensor unplugged at both ends (sensor and clock), test each wire to chassis earth with a multimeter. Any continuity indicates a short to earth; replace or reroute the harness.
- Module diagnosis: If the sensor and harness are good but F4 remains, the electronic clock/programmer is likely faulty. Replacement is recommended; due to live mains on the board, this should be done by a competent person.
