Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor/solenoid, broken door lock microswitch, jammed lock mechanism, wiring fault between lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains before accessing the door lock assembly.
- Check for obstruction: Ensure nothing is trapped in the door or latch area. Try gently opening and closing the door to feel for mechanical resistance.
- Access lock: On built‑in ovens, remove the top cover or front trim to reach the door lock assembly at the top front of the cavity. On some freestanding models, you may need to remove the hob top.
- Inspect mechanism: Look for bent linkages, broken plastic parts, or signs of overheating. Manually operate the lock lever to confirm it moves freely.
- Test microswitches: With a multimeter, check continuity of the lock position switches while manually operating the lock. Replace the lock assembly if switches are open when they should be closed.
- Check wiring: Verify continuity from the lock connector back to the control board. Repair or replace any damaged harness.
- Replace lock assembly: If the motor/solenoid does not operate when commanded and supply is present, fit a new New World door lock assembly.
