New World
Hob Ignition Failure
Gas hob burner will not ignite or only lights with a match
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Blocked burner cap or ports, wet or dirty ignition electrode, failed ignition generator, faulty hob control switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and electricity before cleaning or disassembling burners.
- Clean burner: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a brush and ensure the cap sits flat when refitted.
- Dry electrode: If the hob has been recently cleaned, moisture may be shorting the spark. Dry the electrode and surrounding area thoroughly.
- Check spark: Turn the knob to ignite and look for a spark at the electrode. If other burners spark but this one does not, the electrode or its wiring may be faulty.
- Replace electrode: Access from beneath the hob top, disconnect the old electrode, and fit a new New World hob ignition electrode.
- Ignition generator: If no burners spark, test and replace the ignition generator module.
