Possible Causes
Stuck or wet hob control switch, shorted ignition switch wiring, failed ignition generator stuck on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off electricity to the cooker to stop the igniters. Turn off gas if you smell gas.
- Dry switches: If the hob was recently cleaned, moisture may be bridging the ignition switches. Allow the hob to dry completely; use gentle heat or ventilation.
- Test each knob: With power restored, turn each knob on and off. If clicking stops when a particular knob is moved, that switch may be stuck.
- Access switches: Remove the hob top to access the small ignition switches mounted on the gas taps. Inspect for damage or contamination.
- Replace faulty switch: Fit a new ignition switch for the affected burner.
- Ignition generator: If all switches test OK but clicking continues whenever power is on, replace the ignition generator module.
