Oven door will not close properly or drops open

Safety: Isolate from mains to avoid accidental heating while working on the door.

• Inspect hinges: Open the door and check for excessive side play or sagging. Look at the hinge arms and runners for distortion.
• Remove door: Many New World ovens have clip‑on hinges. Open the door fully, flip the hinge locks, then partially close and lift the door off.
• Check runners: Inspect the hinge runners fixed to the oven cavity for cracks or looseness. Tighten screws or replace runners if damaged.
• Replace hinges: If the door does not spring closed or sits low, replace both hinges as a pair with the correct New World parts.
• Refit and test: Refit the door onto the runners, close the hinge locks, and check closure and seal contact all around.
