Possible Causes
Stuck-closed mechanical thermostat (older knob models), misreading NTC sensor (electronic models), welded relay contacts on control board, incorrectly calibrated thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before removing control knobs or panels.
- Check with thermometer: Place an oven thermometer in the centre of the cavity and compare actual temperature to the set temperature. If it overshoots significantly and does not cycle off, the control is faulty.
- Mechanical thermostat models: Remove the control knob and front panel to access the thermostat body. Inspect the capillary sensor bulb inside the oven for kinks or damage. Replace the thermostat if the oven does not cycle.
- Electronic sensor models: Test the NTC sensor resistance and replace if out of spec. If sensor is correct, the relay on the clock/power board may be stuck closed; replace the board.
- Do not use until fixed: An overheating oven is a fire risk. Leave the appliance isolated until the faulty control component is replaced.
