Grease Build-up / Spillage on Elements
Persistent burning smell or smoke during normal cooking
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Food or fat spilled onto base or elements, grease on grill element, carbonised deposits on cavity surfaces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the oven and allow it to cool fully before cleaning.
- Inspect cavity: Remove shelves and trays. Look for heavy deposits on the base, around the fan cover, and on the grill element.
- Clean thoroughly: Use a suitable oven cleaner (non‑caustic for enamel) or a baking soda paste. Avoid spraying directly onto elements; instead, wipe them gently with a damp cloth.
- Drip trays: Use a baking tray under fatty foods to catch drips and prevent future build‑up.
- Check door seal: A damaged seal can allow smoke to escape; replace if necessary.
