Burn-off of Manufacturing Residues
Strong burning smell or smoke from new oven during first uses
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Protective oils on elements, residues on cavity surfaces, packing material left inside
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure good ventilation. If smoke is excessive or persistent, switch off and investigate.
- Initial burn‑in: Remove all packaging, labels, and plastic from inside and outside the oven. Heat the oven empty at 200–250°C for 30–60 minutes with the door closed and a window open.
- Check for foreign objects: Inspect around elements and behind the back panel for any remaining packing materials.
- Clean surfaces: After cooling, wipe the interior with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Monitor: A mild smell may persist for the first few uses but should diminish. If a strong burning smell continues, inspect elements and wiring for damage.
