Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the range before removing any panels. Capacitors on the control board can hold a charge briefly after power is removed.
Step-by-step:
- Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately, the fault is likely permanent.
- Inspect control panel: Remove the backguard panel screws to access the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) on your Premier range. Check the keypad ribbon cable where it plugs into the board for corrosion, burns, or moisture.
- Clean and reseat: Gently unplug the keypad ribbon from the EOC, wipe the contacts with a soft, dry cloth (no liquids), and firmly reseat it.
- Check for stuck keys: With power restored, press each keypad button individually. If the code reappears when a specific key is pressed, the membrane is shorted.
- Determine failed part: On most Premier models the keypad and front panel are integrated; if the keypad is shorted, replace the control panel/touchpad assembly. If the keypad tests OK but F1 persists, replace the Electronic Oven Control (EOC).
- Reassemble and test: After replacement, restore power and test Bake, Broil, and Timer functions to confirm normal operation.
When to stop: If you smell burning, see scorch marks on the board, or are not comfortable working around live wiring, stop and contact a qualified technician.
