Possible Causes
Open oven temperature sensor, Broken sensor harness connector at EOC, Damaged wiring between sensor and control, Failed sensor circuit on EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before accessing the rear of the range or removing the oven sensor.
Step-by-step:
- Access the sensor: Inside the oven cavity, locate the temperature sensor at the rear wall. Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to expose the connector.
- Check the connector: Ensure the plug is fully seated and the pins are not corroded or broken. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Test continuity: With the sensor unplugged, use a multimeter to check resistance across the sensor terminals. An open (infinite resistance) reading indicates a failed sensor that must be replaced.
- Inspect harness: If the sensor tests good, pull the range away from the wall, remove the rear panel, and trace the sensor wires to the EOC. Look for cuts, burns, or disconnected plugs. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Control board diagnosis: If sensor and wiring are intact and F3 persists, the sensor input circuit on the EOC is likely defective. Replace the Electronic Oven Control (EOC).
- Final test: After replacing parts, restore power and run a bake cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
