Possible Causes
Shorted keypad membrane on control panel, Moisture intrusion into keypad, Debris lodged behind keypad overlay, Damaged keypad ribbon
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the range or switch off the breaker before working on the control panel.
Step-by-step:
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore. If F7 returns without pressing any keys, a key is likely stuck or shorted.
- Inspect keypad surface: Check for spills, grease, or cleaning fluid residue around the buttons. Wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.
- Access keypad ribbon: Remove the backguard cover to expose the keypad ribbon connection to the EOC. Reseat the ribbon.
- Isolate keypad: With power off, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC. Restore power briefly. If F7 disappears with the keypad disconnected, the keypad is defective and must be replaced.
- Replace keypad/control panel: Install a new control panel/touchpad assembly specific to your Premier model. Transfer any brackets or bezels as needed.
- Re-test: Reconnect everything, restore power, and verify that the error is gone and all keys function.
