Possible Causes
Failed bake igniter, Open oven thermostat or EOC bake relay, Blown thermal fuse (if equipped), Broken wiring to bake igniter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off gas at the shutoff valve and disconnect power before accessing the oven burner or wiring.
Step-by-step:
- Verify gas supply: Confirm that surface burners light normally. If not, resolve gas supply issues first.
- Access bake igniter: Remove oven racks and the oven bottom panel to expose the bake burner and igniter on your Premier range.
- Visual check: Inspect the igniter for cracks, broken ceramic, or burned wires. Replace if visibly damaged.
- Test for voltage (advanced): With great caution and using proper insulated probes, restore power and start a bake cycle. Measure AC voltage at the igniter connector. If rated voltage is present but the igniter does not glow, replace the bake igniter. If no voltage, suspect the oven thermostat/EOC or wiring.
- Check continuity: With power off, test continuity of the igniter and any inline thermal fuse. Replace open components.
- Reassemble: After replacing parts, secure all wiring away from the burner, reinstall panels, restore gas and power, and test ignition.
