Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Wet or dirty igniter electrode, Failed spark module, Broken igniter wire or cracked ceramic insulator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off burner knobs and ventilate the area if you smell gas. Disconnect power before handling igniters or spark modules.
Step-by-step:
- Check for spark: Turn the affected burner knob to Lite and observe. If there is no spark at that burner but others spark, the issue is local to that burner.
- Clean burner and igniter: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean the burner ports with a brush and the igniter tip with a soft cloth. Ensure the cap is properly seated when reassembled.
- Dry moisture: If the burner was recently cleaned, moisture may be on the igniter. Allow it to dry completely or use a hair dryer on a cool setting.
- Inspect igniter and wire: Check for cracks in the ceramic insulator or damaged wiring. Replace the surface burner igniter electrode if damaged.
- Spark module: If none of the burners spark, the spark module or its power supply may have failed and should be replaced.
