Individual Gas Burner Ignition Failure
Gas burner will not ignite; clicking can be heard but no flame appears on one burner.

Possible Causes
Blocked burner cap or ports, misaligned burner cap, faulty spark electrode on that burner, no gas flow due to blocked injector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner knobs to OFF. Do not allow gas to flow without ignition. Ensure good ventilation.
Steps to check:
- Check gas supply: Confirm other burners light normally. If none light, the issue is with the main gas supply or safety devices.
- Clean burner: Remove the pan supports and lift off the burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a soft brush and a wooden toothpick. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Reassemble correctly: Ensure the burner head sits flat and the cap is centred. Misalignment can prevent gas from reaching the spark.
- Inspect electrode: Check the ceramic spark electrode near the burner for cracks or heavy grease. Clean gently with a non-abrasive pad.
- Test ignition: Refit parts and try lighting again. If there is still no flame but you can smell gas, turn off immediately and ventilate.
- If only this burner fails and no spark is visible: The electrode or its wiring may be faulty and should be replaced.
