Possible Causes
Failed surface element control board (for radiant or induction models), Loose harness between main control and cooktop board, Power surge damage, Incorrect configuration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before lifting the cooktop or removing panels.
- Inspect wiring: Access the underside of the cooktop and locate the surface element control board (if present). Check all harness connections for tight fit and signs of overheating.
- Power reset: After reseating connectors, restore power and test the cooktop. If E6 persists, the board may be defective.
- Replace board: Replace the surface element control board or the main electronic control as specified by the tech sheet for your RCA model.
