Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Pinched sensor wires touching chassis, Moisture in sensor connector, Shorted harness to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before servicing.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear panel of the range. Locate the oven sensor harness and check for pinched or melted insulation where it passes through the rear wall.
- Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor if shorted.
- Check for shorts to chassis: With the sensor disconnected, check each sensor lead to chassis ground with a multimeter. Any continuity indicates a shorted wire; repair or replace the harness.
- Reconnect and test: After replacing the sensor or repairing wiring, restore power and test a bake cycle.
