Possible Causes
Clogged burner head or ports, Failed spark igniter electrode, Defective spark module, No gas supply or closed gas valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply and disconnect power before disassembling burners. Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid open flames.
- Check gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve to the range is fully open and other gas appliances work.
- Clean burner: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a soft brush or a wooden toothpick (do not enlarge holes). Ensure the burner sits flat when reassembled.
- Inspect igniter: Check the ceramic spark electrode near the burner for cracks or heavy buildup. Clean gently and ensure the gap to the burner is correct (typically 1/8–3/16 inch).
- Listen for clicking: Turn the knob to LITE. If there is no clicking on any burner, the spark module or power supply may be faulty. If only one burner does not click, its igniter or wiring is suspect.
- Replace parts: Replace the surface burner igniter electrode for that burner if damaged, or the spark module if none of the burners spark.
