How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before servicing the broil element.
- Inspect broil element: Look at the broil element (top of oven) for visible breaks or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Continuity test: Disconnect the broil element wires and test with a multimeter. Replace the broil element if open.
- Check high-limit: Some RCA models use a high-limit thermostat in series with the broil circuit. Test for continuity and replace if open.
- Control board: If element and thermostat are good, replace the electronic oven control board due to a failed broil relay.
