Possible Causes
Drifted oven temperature sensor, Miscalibrated electronic control, Poor air circulation due to blocked vents, Door gasket leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before testing the sensor or removing panels.
- Verify with thermometer: Use an oven-safe thermometer to compare actual temperature to the set temperature over at least 20–30 minutes.
- Check sensor: Test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature (~1050–1100 Ω). Replace if out of range.
- Calibrate control: Many RCA models allow temperature adjustment via the settings menu (e.g., offset +/− 35°F). Follow the user manual to adjust based on your thermometer readings.
- Inspect gasket and vents: Replace a torn or flattened oven door gasket and ensure vents are not blocked by foil or pans.
