Possible Causes
Cracked knob hubs, Grease buildup on valve stems, Worn gas valve or infinite switch shaft, Incorrect replacement knobs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas (for gas models) before working near control valves.
- Remove and inspect knobs: Pull the knobs straight off and inspect the plastic hubs for cracks or rounding. Replace damaged control knobs.
- Clean shafts: Wipe the valve or switch shafts with a damp cloth to remove grease and debris. Do not spray cleaner directly into the valve body.
- Check alignment: Ensure replacement knobs match the shaft type (D-shaft, spline, etc.) and are installed in the correct orientation.
- Valve/switch replacement: If shafts are loose or binding, the underlying gas valve or infinite switch may need replacement by a technician.
