Possible Causes

Loose harness between touch control and power board, Failed touch control PCB, Failed main power board, Corroded connector at control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the range/cooktop. Verify power is off with a non-contact voltage tester before removing any panels.

Steps:

  • Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If E0 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient fault.
  • Access control area: For a cooktop, remove it from the counter and take off the glass top screws. For a range, remove the rear control panel cover.
  • Inspect wiring harness: Locate the harness between the touch control (user interface) and the main power/control board. Check for loose plugs, bent pins, heat damage, or corrosion. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • Check for moisture: Look for signs of liquid ingress around the touch panel. If moisture is present, dry the area thoroughly and allow 24 hours before retesting.
  • Component test/replace: If wiring is sound and E0 persists, the fault is usually the touch control PCB or the main power board. Replace the touch control first (most common), then the power board if needed.

Warning: Do not work on live circuits. If you are not comfortable removing the cooktop or accessing internal boards, contact a qualified SMEG technician.
