How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before accessing internal components.
Steps:
- Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 10 minutes, then restore power and check if E9 clears.
- Check for recent repairs: If a board was recently replaced, verify that the correct SMEG part number was installed and that any configuration jumpers or DIP switches are set according to the service manual.
- Service mode (technician only): Some SMEG models require entering a service mode to calibrate zones after board replacement. Refer to SMEG technical documentation.
- Board replacement: If configuration is correct and E9 persists, replace the user interface PCB or main control board as specified by SMEG.
Warning: This fault often requires access to service documentation not supplied to end users. Contact SMEG service if you cannot clear E9.
