Individual Burner Ignition Failure
Gas range shows Er04 and one burner will not ignite while others work

Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Cracked spark electrode, Loose electrode wire, Misaligned burner cap
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner and allow it to cool. Disconnect power before removing parts.
Steps:
- Clean burner: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean all gas ports with a soft brush and a wooden toothpick. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Check alignment: Refit the burner head and cap, ensuring they sit flat and correctly over the electrode.
- Inspect electrode: Look for cracks in the ceramic insulator or heavy buildup. Clean gently and ensure the gap to the burner is correct (per SMEG spec, typically 3–5 mm).
- Check wiring: Under the cooktop, verify the electrode wire is firmly attached to both the electrode and ignition module.
- Replace electrode: If there is still no spark at that burner, replace the spark electrode.
Warning: After reassembly, check for gas leaks and proper flame before normal use.
