Possible Causes

Tripped safety thermostat on oven top, Blocked cooling vents, Failed cooling fan, Faulty safety thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely.

Steps:

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the range has proper clearance and that vents at the rear and top are not blocked by cabinetry or foil.
  • Reset safety thermostat: Remove the rear panel of the range. Locate the manual-reset safety thermostat (usually on the top of the oven cavity). Press the small red or black reset button if present.
  • Cooling fan check: With power restored, start the oven and listen for the cavity cooling fan. If it does not run or is noisy, test and replace the fan motor.
  • Thermostat replacement: If the safety thermostat trips repeatedly, replace it and verify that the cooling system is working correctly.

Warning: Repeated overtemperature faults indicate a serious cooling or control issue. Do not ignore F02.
